Milt Windell

Here's an old portrait of Milton Windell, founder and CEO of WC. It was drawn by one of his original employees, Lonk Davis, during the company's heyday. It's interesting to look at a more figurative type of drawing done by Davis given that he's more renowned for his big-eyed cartoon characters like Honcho and Gestapo Goose.

Clear Lines

Here's another clear line composition that pretty much sums up the way I insist on doing everything right now. By keeping the surfaces and the lines uniform you end up with a flat, sterile look that I really like. Someone described it as being very instruction-manually, and that sounds about right. One of my favourite books is my mothers old nurses textbook. It's chock-full of clear line illustrations on cheery stuff like how to apply catheters and bandages and so on. The drawings are spare and purely functional but I absolutely love them.
